Where to Get Bottles

Where to Get Bottles for Your Bottle Tree

Customers source their bottles in all kinds of ways.

Some purchase bottles from online marketplaces such as Amazon, eBay, or Etsy. Others ask friends and family to save interesting wine or liquor bottles. Many check with local bars or restaurants to see if they will set bottles aside. Some people even rescue great finds from recycling bins.

If you purchase bottles, be aware that many colored bottles are actually clear glass with a painted coating. Painted bottles will fade in the sun over time and may need to be replaced if the color changes.

To test a bottle, lightly scrape the inside of the neck with a key or similar object. If color comes off, it is painted.

I use solid-colored glass on my trees. I originally started with blue bottles, traditionally associated with healing, but you can use any colors you like to create your own look.
